Weight Loss

A Transformative Journey

A weight loss journey is different for each person who embarks on it. There is no one-size-fits-all-prescription for how to achieve a desired body composition and weight loss goal.

What type of support do you need at this time? You are the expert in what will work best for you. I can help you take stock of past successes and challenges, what’s currently working well, and what’s not working well as you determine next steps.

Here are some of the ways I can support you:

  • Active Listening. Sometimes people need to talk it through. They’ll say “I understand what I need to do”, but they need help to process and work through next steps. I’m here to listen and ask questions to help clarify next steps.

  • Nourishment Beyond Food. Nourishment comes in many forms. We most often relate nourishment to the food we eat, but there are others ways we nourish ourselves. Our body might crave certain types of physical activity, for instance. We might look for relationships that feel loving, or a career that feels fulfilling. We’re seeking out “food for the soul.” It’s important to talk about these things because when we can’t find what we hunger for, we may turn to food for comfort.

  • Education. I can help you understand underlying metabolic issues that may be affecting your weight. We can look at the foods you’re currently eating and talk about how they might be supporting your goals or posing a challenge.

  • Structure - I can provide structure in a couple of ways.

    • If you feel it would be helpful to have a food plan, for instance, I can provide one. I work with food plans developed by the Institute for Functional Medicine.

    • I can set you up with an online food journal through Practice Better. This is a great way for us to see what’s happening in real time.

    • You can message me with questions and concerns throughout your weight loss journey.

  • Accountability. Once you settle on a way forward, I’ll be sure to ask you how things are going. Rest assured there will be no judgment, just opportunities to make course corrections along the way.

  • Acknowledging Progress. This can take many forms and you’ll determine what will be the most meaningful way of acknowledging and tracking your progress. It might mean checking in to see how you feel about the changes you’re seeing or it can be the more traditional approach of stepping on the scale, taking measurements, or repeating lab work.

Whatever you decide, I’ll walk this journey with you, bringing my nutritional expertise and the support and encouragement you need.
